I find and I also think that alot of people think that it easy to rank high in MSN, but I have noticed that once you rank high say in google for something you were ranking high in MSN then the rankings start to drop, its like as if google rank for other things.
Has any one else noticed this? ![]() |

I'm not sure I follow your question...are you asking whether or not we have seen that if you have good SERP rankings in MSN, and then you begin to rank well for the same keywords in Google, your MSN rankings then begin to drop? Can you please clarify the question.
On a side note, I would say that I have found it relatively easy to consistently and quickly get cached and ranked in MSN, but I have also seen some pretty interesting results with google picking up my sites quickly, not just caching, but ranking them as well - I think there are a lot of factors that go into this...obviously. |

My experience has been that MSN will find new pages first and get them ranked fairly high. It seem that if you are ranking well in Google that your MSN rankings drop. However, there are two item that you need to consider; 1)which se drives more traffic to your site? 2)each se algo for ranking is different which results in different rankings for a site.
As far as traffic - I use a rule of thumb which may not be accurate but does help - G 50%, Yahoo 25%, MSN (live) 13%, the rest

It used to be that you could rank well in MSN and then rank well in Google.
However, I think that MSN tends to be more liberal with the amount of keywords in order to gain higher rankings in their SERP's. Just an observation to share with you. |

My experience is that it is very easy to rank well quickly with MSN. They seem to be really hot on your keyphrase matching your domain name. Eg. If your keyphrase is "XXXXX Real Estate", then www. xxxxxrealestate. com will rank well quickly and above other established sites if your site is reasonable well coded with SEO in mind and you have some links.
Second best for msn is the page name matching the key phrase. Using the example above, if your domain was www .yyyyrealestate. com, and you want to rank well in MSN for the keyphrase "XXXXX real estate", then create a page like this: www. yyyyrealestate. com/xxxxrealestate.htm. I have not experimented with deep linking on MSN to the secondary page with anchor text matching the second page. Anybody have any luck with that? John Visser RE/MAX Communities
