Default Link with other local agents

Link with other local agents??

I was curious to know if anyone had linked with other agents in the same market.

If there is a legit reason to link to them go for it, but why would you want to?

Ken asks a good question: Why would you want to link to them?

If you have a good reason, then by all means don't be afraid to link to one and another.

Here is an example: You know someone who does property management and also has a great website. You don't do property management. So, why not link to each other?

How about arranging a link partnership to someone who works a part of town that's really too far away for you to service? How about a specialist for a type of property that is really outside your area of expertise? Commercial, Historical, Luxury, Condo, Loft, Land, etc.

There are other great local businesses for you to set up link partnerships with. The list is only limited by your imagination.

Hint... Links from websites that search engines consider to be in your local area might improve your rankings.

Link with local websites. In your case, Ken since you got 10 suburbs and now heavily going after Chicago, the whole Northern Illinois is your back yard. Relativity is the key.

This WOULD have been a link swap with direct competition.

Agent has been a friend of the family since before either one of us started in real estate, but competitor non-the-less.

After over thinking the potential benefits / ramifications with search engines, I realized something...

Boy would we look like a couple of ding-a-lings with links on each other's sites suggesting to go the other's website for better information or service.

Jim brings up a good point about local link building. I started with the suggestions off Matt L's post and pursued some chamber of commerce sites.

(I also contacted the local city government to get on the city's main website. Finished subdivisions with home owner's association websites are potential partners as well!)

Thanks

Local link building - didn't I read somewhere that we should link out of our websites when we think that the reference would prove helpful to our site visitors?

Does this help any? Or am I on the wrong track?

Jim Messenger agrees: You are on the right track. Always ask yourself, will this make sense to and/or benefit my audience?
kensmith agrees: Great advice, to bad most agents are to worried about ranking and not what visitors want/need.

Glen you are to funny. No you should never link to help your visitors...lol.

Mert I am only playing with the term Chicago, when I actually try for that term you will know it. More important will be to add more suburbs in the areas that a couple of my best agents live. They want some local leads and I want to keep them happy. Heck they really kick butt, check out what they did yesterday. Then we sold another 11 today at that same property.

Mert knows that I am playing around with that term. Besides if he was #1 or 2 and I was the other we both would be very happy. We are friendly competitors and we agree that there is more then enough business for the two of us in Chicago.
