Hopefully the noise on this thread will quieten and we can get back to the original topic of discussion.
I am interested in hearing more comments regarding requiring mandatory fields in the member profiles, post requirements for conditional signatures, and rewards for referrals.

Jim,
OK, I still dont get why I am being attacked (please read the whole thing) if you want me to say it, I made a mistake, I use firefox for SEO analysis and usually turn my SEO tools off when I am just chilling and writing in forums because red is an annoying color when I am simply browsing. You said one time before that the link to that other forum you put had no follows so I had the assumption all the links did as I knew it was a VBSEO option, I am wrong I get it. I still do not get why my making a mistake about this website using nofollow in a publicly editable forum is a bad thing and an accusation??? Nofollow in public forum makes a forum nothing but an elite forum (AND YES I GET IT SIGNATURES DO NOT HAVE NOFOLLOWS IN THIS FORUM) Believe it or not I am your friend, and I had no intention of accusing you in public. Nofollows only make a forum better not worse by keeping the people who do not want to contribute but are here for links go away. This really really really was not meant to be a negative thing. You had asked for suggestions at the beginning of the thread and I gave a clearly misinformed friendly suggestion and accept my apology a million times in this issue.

Hi Jim,
I agree with Ken's suggestion on 25 words per post and 20 times before signature. I also agree with information on the person registering- what company they are with, designations etc. It is always helpful to have names of agents in other areas. Jamie |

The idea of having a minimum number of words for a post to have a signature is excellent. Too often, there are posts that have little to add to the discussion and are there just to get a link back. IMHO, I would agree with Ken that 20 words be the minimum.
With regards to a minimum number of posts before the signature shows up is also good. Is there a way to have signatures not show if a participant does not post in say - a minimum number of days? Might off base but just a thought.

Glenn,
That was such a good idea that we jumped right on it. Any member who has not visited the site in the last 60 days has been moved to an Inactive Member User Group and that group does not have signature privileges. Thanks for the suggestion! Jim |

Glenn that is a great idea...even if Jim did come up with it.
Think that with a few of these ideas being added it will keep most of the members that really want to learn and contribute around while weeding out the ones that we don;t want here anyways. Jim keep up the great work!

I would go ever farther and say 100 posts. OR for frequent posters, say when they reach 500 posts, allow a 3rd link perhaps or a courtesy directory listing on the site? I do like the minium amount of words. There are too many "me too" posts on forums. |
