4.0 sure is taking a long time to get released. Am interested to see it, but don't think that it is going to make anyone rank any better.

I read a comment and maybe misinterpreted it but it seemed like the 4.0 VO is ready, but there are problems with the "converter."
Where I think 4.0 may help me in the SERP's is the resolution of supplemental pages as a result of the URL configuration or format - where Google picks up a URL with "?" instead of "/" - makes for duplicate content issues thereby supplemental pages.

That might help you if you are having some pages indexed more than one way. I had fixed those issues long ago by adding the &NF=1 to every page. It ment I had to come up with my own navigation, but it was a really good thing. It forced me to learn the code, then realize that the code was bloated so I learned CSS.
4.0 from what has been posted is a few weeks out. That was posted yesterday a few times, it will be interesting to see how the conversion goes. |

Hi Kristina
Can you tell the anticipation in the wings for 4.0? Get let the enthusiasm, anticipation, and anxiety out somewhere. So do you want to share with us the anticipated date for client beta testing? ![]() Last edited by naplesrealestate : 09-15-2006 at 12:42 PM. |

Weird, it only emailed me about Ken's response!
Believe me, I am excited too. I think our Programmers are excited (or pressured?) as well because they keep slightly under-estimating their time frame. "Oh that? Yep, it will be done tomorrow!" Not. That is why I had to stop posting semi-dates as why embarrass myself more than necessary? If you knew how many 'done' dates I have known about... Right now, once the navigation portion of Design Center is added in, I would like to share it with the forum to get feedback. At that point, I would hope beta testing would start soon after that. (Well, our QA team has beta tested a bunch... but client beta testing...) So, very soon. It's riiighhhttt there. So close. The major stuff is done, it does need a lot of polishing up (to be user friendly to navigatate, etc.) but it's very close. Very soon. ![]() As for ranking better, it will be interesting to see what happens. I think our URLs (besides the mess of page duplication) are fine... but with the new URL structure it will be interesting to see what happens. I always like performing tests like that. |

Kristina - sometimes people in their excitement set a deadline that might be correct (trying to say it in a courteous manner, because I am guilty of it.
)It is very hard task to redo a system, the key thing is the quality of the end product. Well working on designing or modifying hospital financial systems (real estate sites are very different) the design group (analysts) and programmers see things differently than the end user. As well as how the end user uses the tools within the system. Prior to 3.0 being released was there some client involvement for final observations (errr final debugging)? This is what I was trying to say. IMHO - the page duplication issue is a reason for sites not performing well in the results - however it is much easier to point the finger at something other than ourselves. LOL |

Glenn, what ends up happening is that we start 'beta testing' and converting a few 'victims' and once we start converting we find 'problems'. We go back and fix the problems and convert a few more, and the process continues to be refined. |
