I totally agree with you Ken. Even though many states have legislated the need for continuning education. It would seem that local boards maybe should be moving to competancy testing for continuation of membership?
This year is the first year for involvement in my local board, because I am tired of having to deal with agents that can't complete a simple fill in the blanks contract correctly. I am on the Legal Resources Committee. After 2 meetings, I have seen where the contracts are being geared towards a lower of the bar, rather than raising the bar. The problem exists within our professional organization and we are the ones that have to be pro-active to raise the bar.

Glenn you have a good point. I like to complain about the bad agents but rarely do anything about it. Have recently started turning the agents into the board for violations in our minimum standards law and other large violations, but don't feel that it makes much difference. Might have to get involved in the board a little more to make more of a difference.

We can complain all we want - when complaining does anyone really listen? Therefore, we need to change the system from within. Hence, my involvement on the committee. What I envision as a hurdle - is finding others that are of the same opinion as us. Of course, in the local board.
