I have came up with some new domain names. I think they would be more niche that a broad spectrum. Are there any penalties to have these names redirected to ones main website. Wasn't sure with all the changes to google. Or would it be more advantageous to have their own site. I have seen the redirect and have had it done to me while surfing and am a little worried when I see it. Any thoughts?

If you use a 301 redirect you should be fine, BUT if you have links pointing to them there is always a chance for issues IMO. Also note that GoDaddy and some others don't offer 301's, they use 302's and they have been know to create issues.
So the question is why use multiple domain names in the first place? If it's for print only then you shouldn't have issues, but for online I would say one domain per site. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Hello. Since this thread is about domain names, I have a question. My friend quit real estate to pursue another business venture and I asked him if I could have his old domain name which he registered with godaddy. It's not a matter of transferring to another website but to actually transfer ownership to me. Any ideas? Thanks for the help. Last edited by Jim Messenger : 11-18-2006 at 08:07 AM.
