FamousAgents.com was founded by Jim Messenger, a real estate agent in the greater Phoenix, Arizona market. Jim began his Phoenix real estate career with the usual struggles of a newly-licensed, starving real estate agent. His time was mostly spent cold calling, knocking on FSBO doors, and mailing out letters praying for that next commission check.
While the old-fashioned marketing ideas can still be put to great use if done correctly, Jim was looking for another source of leads. Clearly, the internet was the answer. Unfortunately, Jim didn’t really know where to go and ended up being taken to the wallet-cleaners by several unscrupulous internet companies and self-proclaimed web designers. He looked into buying leads from companies who procure internet leads and sell them to real estate agents, but that turned out to be highly ineffective and a complete waste of time and money. Jim was soon at a standstill with finding an internet expert or company with any integrity, so he chose to start researching and learning on his own.
Jim found some other great real estate agents who’d had success on the internet and bounced ideas off them. He studied for hours every day, joined forums, learned some basic internet code, researched the latest search engine strategies, and finally found some internet success. Because he still had a real estate business to run, Jim hired out some projects to some other designers and programmers, but Jim has always performed the search engine optimization on his websites. Through his tireless study and analytical skills, Jim has also been able to fix problems with his sites that no other “expert” was able to resolve. In fact, when several real estate websites, including many of Jim’s agent friends, disappeared from Google in early 2005, several SEO experts claimed there was no cure and to wait it out. Well… Jim discovered and fixed the problem before many of those experts ever admitted there was a problem. Jim remains heavily connected in the Real Estate web community and the ever-changing search engine algorithms to ensure the best rankings and most up-to-date strategies are maintained.
With all the success on the internet, Jim has received numerous calls over the years from other real estate agents desiring a website like his. Jim also has received many requests from people looking for the same level of search engine optimization and related services. On another level, there continue to be a few dishonest agents and webmasters stealing Jim’s content and design attributes (which, of course, are protected under US and International copyright laws) – while this type of thing keeps Jim’s lawyers in style, it also proves that Jim’s work is so phenomenal, others are willing to steal it just to have the success he enjoys on the internet. After a while, Jim got the hint that he ought to build upon his internet success, and the ideas for building FamousAgents.com began. It was a natural fit for Jim and his wife, Andrea, who handles the “business” end, while Jim stays involved with the marketing and also manages the team of designers, programmers, and other staff.
