Business Blogging Part 1: A Beneficial Boost for Your Business
Blogging will help you build business.
No matter how you feel about blogging, it is difficult to dispute the sheer effectiveness of writing posts to update your readers about what’s happening in your business. You become an informational tool - a resource to a web community looking for answers.
Once you develop a following for your blog, you have inherited clients for life. If you can earn their trust and build a relationship your loyal readers will most definitely turn to you.
Blogging for your business site puts an entirely different spin on the “journal-writing” identity once associated with blogs. Upgrading the tone of your writing from casual-conversational to semi-conversational is a start. The days of using “dude” and cursing in your blog are long gone once you make a transition to professional blogging.
Remember, you are building credibility so people turn to you for all their real estate needs.
Matt Jackson, an expert writer at Ezine Articles, wrote a fantastic post that can be tied directly to everyone weighing the importance of a professional blog. He does a great job of accurately pointing out the true impact a blog can have on your business site.
Here is a basic outline of his “10 Big Benefits”:
- Quick and Easy
- Inexpensive Setup
- Provides Easy Access to Company News
- Search Engine Friendly
- Appear Accessible
- Appear Authoritative
- Brand Awareness
- Relationship Building
- Gain an Insight Into Your Customers
- Reduce Calls and Emails
Every single benefit is valid and applies directly to REALTORs. Honestly, how many REALTORs do you know that like tasks to be time consuming, arduous, and a strain on their wallet?
I would definitely recommend taking a minute to read the entire article, and really get a feel for what a blog can do for your business.

Part two to the series will offer strategies for building your reader base - key for developing just any blog into a productive business blog.

I’ve yet to have a client come directly to me through the blog, but I’m seeing a growing Internet presence because of the blog. Or as one new agent in my office put it, “Dude, you’re everywhere on the web!”
Not quite, but I try. More and more people visiting the blog are using my MLS search or visiting my main sites or visiting my individual property pages. Not a bad deal at all.

I’m glad to hear everything is working out for you. Blogging will definitely gain you some recognition, and although you have not had a client contact you directly through the blog, you are building a reputation.
Congrats on the success. You’re right, it’s not a bad deal at all!
