Does Blogging Give You Butterflies???
Baby steps: it’s the easiest way to describe how to conquer your fear of blogging on your real estate site.
I have read several posts on the forum and have received various emails regarding the hesitation some of you have when it comes to blogging on your site. I get questions regarding what is or is not acceptable for your blog, proper length for posts, and general questions about formal “blogging rules.”
Relax.
Blogging is not something you decide to do one day and master the next. It takes time, patience, and an understanding of your own writing style.
The area of blogging is multifaceted. Throwing all the information into one post would be ludicrous. The information needs to be broken down and examined to the point where I can outline every element of blogging that is crucial to the development of a REALTOR’s blog.
A SERIES IS ON THE WAY.
I’m going to take it all apart and will deliver everything relevant to YOU and your business on a silver platter. I will spend the next two weeks telling you everything I have discovered after sifting through the hundreds of “how to” blog sites.
Simplicity is what I’m aiming for. I’ll take each piece of the blog world and break it down - making it not only easy to understand - but easy to apply to your site.
Stay tuned, and be prepared to offer your own personal tips. In a world where over 50 million blogs exist, REALTORs have to unite and share what works for our niche.
The first article to the Business Blogging series will be released Wednesday. After that, look for an addition to the series every two to three days.
Make your comments below. Let me know what you want and need to know about blogging, mention any questions you have, and I will do my best to accomodate the curiosity.

The toughest times I’ve had blogging is when I got too bogged down worrying about specific topics, who might be interested, etc. Once I made the decision to write primarily for myself, in my voice, about the real estate topics about which I was most passionate, all went fairly well.

It sounds like you definitely have a good grip on easing yourself into the blogging community while avoiding shock. While writing for yourself is absolutely a way to make things a little bit more comfortable, it is not always the most effective way to write for your business.
I agree that your voice must be heard in your writing, but tackling things you may not be too familiar with has the potential of being extremely effective in your blog. Also keep in mind that if you force yourself to stretch and cover topics you are not super comfortable with, you grow as a REALTOR as well.
